Terms of Use – GiggleFace

Last updated: September 10, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of GiggleFace on iOS/iPadOS and GiggleFaceCamera on macOS. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms.

1. Purpose

GiggleFace is a creative camera application that lets users import images, create and adjust face masks, apply them to the front camera in real time, record videos with audio, share mask files, and provide a virtual camera feed to compatible macOS applications.

2. License and Acceptable Use

The developer grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use GiggleFace on supported Apple devices under these terms and Apple's platform rules. The app is provided for lawful personal and professional creative use.

You may not reverse engineer, copy, modify, resell, rent, or redistribute the application or its proprietary assets except where applicable law expressly permits it.

3. Images, Masks, and User Content

You are responsible for every image, mask, recording, and camera output you create, import, display, transmit, or share through GiggleFace. You must own the content or have all necessary licenses, permissions, and consents, including permission to use another person's image, likeness, or intellectual property.

GiggleFace does not grant you rights to images obtained from websites, social networks, photo libraries, friends, or other sources. Importing an image does not remove copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or contractual restrictions that apply to it.

4. Prohibited Uses

You may not use GiggleFace to create, display, record, or distribute content that:

You are responsible for making any disclosure required by law, policy, or context when a mask or altered camera feed could reasonably mislead others.

5. Permissions, Face Processing, and Recording

Camera, microphone, photo library, file, and local-network access depend on permissions and system interfaces you control. Face-mask features require a device supported by Apple's ARKit face tracking; availability depends on the hardware and operating system. Denying a required permission may prevent the related feature from working.

GiggleFace processes face geometry and expressions locally to animate masks, and facial landmarks in selected images to align custom masks. It is a creative tool, not an identity verification, authentication, or medical service. The Privacy Policy, section 3 explains face data and TrueDepth processing; sections 4, 7, and 9 explain saved media, transfers, retention, and deletion. Accepting these terms does not replace device permissions or consent required for a specific use or disclosure of personal information.

You are responsible for obtaining the necessary permission before using another person's image to create a mask or recording or transmitting their image or voice, and for complying with applicable recording laws. A mask does not guarantee anonymity. Do not use GiggleFace to bypass identity checks.

6. iPhone-to-Mac Connection and Third-Party Services

Using masks in Mac video calls requires the companion GiggleFaceCamera app on a compatible Mac, GiggleFace on a compatible iPhone or iPad, both devices on the same local network, and the necessary network permissions. Enable the camera extension in macOS, scan the Mac's pairing QR code from GiggleFace, establish the connection, and select GiggleFaceCamera as the camera in a compatible communication app. Pair only with a Mac you trust.

GiggleFace sends rendered video over an authenticated, encrypted local connection. The Mac receives that video rather than the underlying live face mesh or expression coefficients. A communication app can transmit or record the video outside your local network according to its settings and policies. Stop streaming or disconnect the devices to stop delivery of new video to the Mac. This does not delete previously saved or shared copies.

Compatibility varies with hardware, operating systems, app versions, extension support, permissions, security settings, and network configuration. Third-party communication, sharing, and storage services are independent and governed by their own terms and policies. Compatibility with every service or future version is not guaranteed. The virtual camera supplies video; audio input in a call is configured separately in the communication app.

7. GiggleFace Premium

GiggleFace may be downloaded for free. Custom mask creation and other Premium features are unlocked through a single non-consumable in-app purchase. There is no recurring GiggleFace subscription for this Premium access.

Apple processes billing, taxes, and refund requests. RevenueCat supports purchase verification and restoration as explained in the Privacy Policy. Restoration requires the Apple ID used for the eligible original purchase and depends on Apple's systems. A one-time purchase does not guarantee that every feature, third-party integration, or operating-system compatibility will remain unchanged indefinitely.

8. Connectivity and Saved Content

Camera, face tracking, mask editing, and recording are processed locally. Streaming to the Mac requires a local-network connection. Internet access may be needed for app downloads, purchases and restoration through Apple and RevenueCat, analytics and diagnostics through Himetrica, online imports, sharing, or video calls. Local mask processing does not require sending facial measurements to an Internet service.

You control saved masks, source images, and recordings. Deleting an app-library item does not delete exports, Photos copies, backups, or recordings made by a communication service or other participants. Manage those separately. The Privacy Policy, section 9 explains retention and deletion.

9. Intellectual Property

You retain the rights you already hold in your imported images, original mask files, and recordings. All rights in GiggleFace itself—including its name, design, branding, source code, interface, and included assets—belong to the developer and/or Adriano Souza Costa unless otherwise stated.

10. Performance and Limitation of Liability

GiggleFace is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation. Recording at up to 60 fps depends on supported hardware, selected settings, storage, system load, and thermal conditions.

To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not responsible for:

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory consumer rights, statutory warranties, refunds, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Updates and Availability

The developer may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features to address security, compatibility, legal, or product requirements. Continued use may require a supported version of iOS, macOS, GiggleFace, or a third-party app.

12. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated to reflect legal, technical, or product changes. Continued use after revised terms become available means you accept the updated terms to the extent permitted by law.
