Terms of Use – HorseScore

Last updated: October 14, 2026

1. About these terms

HorseScore is provided by Adriano Souza Costa. These terms govern your use of the app. The applicable App Store terms and the Apple Standard EULA also govern the app license; nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights.

2. Visual screening, not diagnosis

HorseScore provides a visual, educational screening of body condition (Henneke scale, BCS 1–9) and neck adiposity (CNS 0–5) in horses and ponies from photos. The estimate is generated by artificial intelligence, may be wrong and does not assess the palpation described in the atlas. The result is not a diagnosis, does not replace an examination by a veterinarian and must not be the only basis for decisions about the animal’s health, feeding, management or treatment. If in doubt, or if there are signs of disease such as laminitis, see a veterinarian.

3. Use of the AI service

The analysis depends on the OpenAI API and an internet connection. Each analysis is only sent after you confirm it in the app. The service may be unavailable, slow or change without notice, and the app may be unable to complete an analysis. When the photos do not allow a reliable estimate, the app prefers not to give a score and asks you to retake them.

4. Your photos

Only submit photos you took or have the right to use. Photograph the animal, not people, and do not include personal information or inappropriate content. Respect the animal’s welfare and people’s safety while taking photos.

5. Acceptable use

Do not modify, reverse engineer, copy, redistribute or resell the app, except where the law expressly allows. Do not try to extract credentials, overload the service or use the app for purposes other than assessing horses and ponies. The HorseScore name, brand, texts and illustrations belong to the developer or its licensors.

6. Price and availability

HorseScore is free and has no in-app purchases. Features, criteria and texts may change between versions.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided as is. We work to keep it stable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation or the accuracy of the estimates. To the extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect losses or for decisions made based on the result. This does not limit liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms when the app or the law changes. The revision date above shows the latest version. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
