Key features

Everything in date, in one list

Expired medicines come first, then the ones expiring soon and the ones still in date. Each one shows how many days are left, and you can search any medicine by name.

Take a photo of the box

Point the camera at the box: Pillo reads the name, barcode, registration number and expiry date. Check the details and save with one tap, or type them in if you prefer.

A reminder before it expires

Get reminders 30 days before, 7 days before and on the expiry day, at the time you choose. If a medicine expires, Pillo reminds you once a week until you dispose of it.

Understand what it is for

A plain-words summary of the official leaflet from ANVISA, Brazil's health agency: what it is for, how it works, how to take it and how to store it, with a link to the full leaflet.

Dispose of it the right way

Expired medicine does not belong in the trash or down the sink. Pillo explains what to do and opens Maps so you can find a drop-off point.

Simple and private

No account and no ads. Photos, dates and reminders stay on your iPhone, and Pillo follows the text size you use on your device.

FAQ

What is Pillo?

Pillo is an iPhone app that keeps track of the expiry dates of the medicines in your home. You take a photo of the box, check the details and Pillo reminds you before each medicine expires. The app is in Portuguese and made for Brazil.

How does Pillo read the box?

The camera recognizes the text and the barcode on the box on the iPhone itself. Pillo finds the name, registration number and expiry date and shows everything for you to check before saving. If reading does not work, you can type the details in.

When do I get reminders?

By default, 30 days before, 7 days before and on the expiry day, at the time you choose in Settings. Expired medicines can get a weekly reminder until you dispose of them. Reminders arrive as notifications, even with the app closed.

Does Pillo work offline?

Mostly, yes. Reading the box, the list and the reminders work without internet. Looking up the medicine information at ANVISA uses the connection; offline, the medicine is saved and Pillo completes the information when you are back online.

Where does the medicine information come from?

From ANVISA's public data: the medicine list, Open Data and the Electronic Leaflet Library. The summary is based on the official leaflet, does not recommend doses or treatments and does not replace advice from a health professional. Pillo is not affiliated with ANVISA.

Where is my data kept?

On your iPhone. Pillo has no account, shows no ads and does not collect usage analytics. To look up information, it sends only the barcode, registration number or name of the medicine, with nothing that identifies you. See the Privacy Policy for details.

What should I do with an expired medicine?

Do not throw it in the trash, the sink or the toilet. Take the box to a pharmacy or health center with a drop-off point. In Pillo, tap Encontrar ponto de coleta to open the search in Maps.

How much does it cost and when is it coming?

Pillo is free and has no ads. It is coming soon to the App Store in Brazil, for iPhone with iOS 26 or later.
